  • Find a patch of wild raspberries or blueberries. Pick a basketful and bring them back to the kitchen for a fresh and sweet treat. Talk to Carol about which berries are in season.
  • Don't forget your camera! Canoe around the pond or hike the many nearby trails looking for loons, moose, rabbit or deer. Spot osprey, heron, wood- peckers or the hundreds of other varieties of birds in the area.
  • Explore the Penobscot River by taking a ride to Baxter State Park. It's less than an hour away. The Roach River is about 10 miles away, and don't forget your fly-rod! These rivers are some of the finest landlocked Salmon fisheries in North America. Ask Eric about his favorite streamer patterns.
  • Hike one of the many moderate to challenging mountain trails throughout the area. Here's a secret - if you tell the kitchen you won't be back for lunch they'll pack you a hearty snack for your trip.
  • Try your hand at fly-fishing the pond. The Brook trout take readily to a variety of dry flies, wet flies and nymphs. Mayflies, caddis and terresterals hatch throughout most of the year.

  • Take a few minutes to explore the lodge. Borrow a good, old book from the library, admire fishing pictures from decades ago or play a favorite song on the antique piano.
